We’re hiring a Part Time Communications & Administrative Assistant!

Title: Part-Time Communications and Administrative Assistant 

Effective: September 1,  2020

Job Purpose: To provide communications and administrative support for all aspects of the life and ministry of All Angels’ Church. 

Reporting: The Part-Time Communications and Administrative Assistant reports to the clergy for communications functions and to the Director of Administration for all other administrative tasks. 

Tasks: Acts as a member of the administration team to support the communications and administrative functions of the church, carrying out specific tasks as detailed below, and having the knowledge and ability to deal with other work as needs arise. Job responsibilities may evolve and change as the team grows and shifts. 

Communications Tasks: 

  • Manages and oversees all advertising and church communications, ensuring consistent style, scheduling, messaging, and structure. 

  • Oversees the weekly service bulletin production, working with various ministry teams during compilation.

  • Assists in website management, especially in uploading announcements, sermons, and other regular updates.

  • Oversees the sending out of weekly church-wide emails and maintenance of the church blog.

  • Manages social media, creating consistent fresh content, promoting a diverse congregation and varied voices, while working with various ministry teams.

  • Designs flyers and other graphics for events and church series. 

  • Supports communication functions for special services, events, retreats, block parties, etc.

Administrative Tasks: 

  • Welcomes visitors and parishioners warmly to the church and offices. 

  • Receives, opens, redirects, and addresses incoming and outgoing mail. 

  • Manages the telephone system to ensure efficiency, answers and redirects telephone calls. 

  • Manages generic church email addresses. 

Other Responsibilities: 

  • Participates in staff meetings, weekly prayer, and other pertinent staff gatherings. 

  • Supports the Director of Administration and Clergy in other tasks as needed. 

Requirements/Skills/Qualifications: 

  • Bachelor’s degree preferred 

  • One year applicable experience preferred 

  • Detail-oriented while also able to multitask 

  • Proficiency in Graphic Design

  • Highly-motivated, team player 

  • Able to work independently and with oversight 

  • Warm demeanor, ability to communicate with diverse audiences 

  • Possesses strong written communication skills, with an eye toward proofreading and grammar 

  • Strong computer fluency and social media experience

  • The job involves walking between multiple floors with no elevator 

Additional competencies desired:

  • Proficiency with the 1979 Book of Common Prayer

  • Video editing

  • Photography
