2022 Holy Week Schedule
This Sunday is Palm Sunday! We will begin gathering at 9:45 am in Palmer Hall to receive bulletins and palms, and we will assemble outside on the front steps to begin our service together. Please arrive before 10am if you would like to participate in our procession around our block. We hope you will join us as we joyfully celebrate the arrival of Christ into Jerusalem!
Maundy Thursday – Foot Washing Service:
Our Maundy Thursday service will be a Eucharist with the opportunity to symbolically enact Jesus’ commandment to serve one another by washing each other’s feet.
Good Friday – Stations of the Cross:
Stations of the Cross is an ancient and powerful way of engaging with the Lord Jesus’s Passion. Individuals move prayerfully through a number of stations which represent key moments of Jesus’s journey from the Garden of Gethsemane to the Cross at Golgotha to the Tomb.
On Good Friday at All Angels’, we will transform our space into a Stations of the Cross that’s tailored for our community. Our Stations will include interactive, multimedia and multisensory features to help you engage the Lord’s Passion holistically. We’ve called on the gifts of our parish to aid us in this pilgrimage of sorts: instrumental music from Kat Jonker and Philip Sheegog, guided contemplation with Jen Knight, and even a newly commissioned short film from Olivia Bolling. In a span of about 45 minutes, you’ll be invited to read Scripture and pray, sing and listen, move around and sit still, all in an effort to journey with Jesus to his death.
We’re making use of three floors of our building, so be prepared to navigate stairs and to spend about 5 minutes at each of 8 stations. Because it’s interactive we also think this will be family friendly, suitable for high school students and older.
You must sign up on RSVP.church for a slot as we want to stagger the groups in 10-minute intervals. You can come as a group or a house church or on your own.
We will be outside with Eucharist and Baptisms, and look forward to celebrating the resurrection outside on W. 80th Street at 10am on Easter! We will have both seating and standing areas. We’re unlikely to have enough chairs for everyone, so please feel free to bring along your own folding chair. Thank you to those helping with hospitality and set-up/tear-down; if you’d like to serve, email Jeannette: firstname.lastname@example.org. We hope you join us for this exciting and celebratory day!
