Community Ministries
The poorest of the poor will find pasture, and the needy will lie down in safety. - Isaiah 14:30a
Being unwanted, unloved, uncared for, forgotten by everybody…is a much greater hunger, a much greater poverty than the person who has nothing to eat. - Mother Theresa
Vision
Community Ministries exists to empower and equip people struggling with homelessness, addiction and mental health challenges to be dependent on God, independent in self-care and inter-dependent within the Community.
Our Place: A Wellness Café
This is a gospel centered, peer driven, supportive community café for men and women experiencing homelessness, addiction, and mental health challenges; and for those who are their friends. Our goal is to see those experiencing homelessness, addiction and mental health challenges develop a relationship with God, find community support, recover their dreams, and embrace a lifestyle of wellness. The program consists of excellent coffee, food, conversation, wellness circles, skills classes and job training. The Café will be opening this fall (2010).
Pathways
The Pathways ministry exists to minister to basic needs of homeless men and women. We afford men and women an opportunity to shower, receive mail, and obtain medical, psychiatric and social services. Pathways functions as a conduit into the larger community of All Angels’ Church. The ministry operates Tuesdays and Thursdays from 10:00am to 2:00pm (doors open for women at 8:30am).
Leadership Training/ Mentoring
All Angels’ Church is committed to making disciples and training leaders among the poor. For those who are growing Christians and aspire to leadership positions in the church we have a one year program. In the fall leadership candidates participate in a Life Skills Training program sponsored by The Interfaith Assembly on Housing and Homelessness. Classes are held 2x per week and each candidate is assigned to a mentor. In the winter and spring the Candidates participate in a leadership training program facilitated by the Director of Community Ministries.
Sunday Ministries
On Sundays, all are invited to participate in a Bible study at 3:45pm, our 5:00pm Worship Service, and our Community Meal. Sunday evenings, our volunteer-run shelter houses 10 men and 10 women each week.
See our Assistance Directory under the resources tab for other crisis and outreach organizations.
